Maybe, It’s In The Name…

Okay – did anyone watch the Emmy’s? I didn’t get a chance to see the award show. But, I’m always the first one to scour the best dresses/worst dressed photos and lists on the internet.

Check out this picture of Heidi Klum. I swear I have never seen her in anything that I didn’t love…even pregnant…she radiates grace, beauty, and elegance! Wow! Now, after 4 kids, she looks like this and her style is impeccable! I’m sold, as I have been for years, I LOVE how Heidi Klum dresses….she’s classic, she’s trendy, she’s style perfection!

Ah, can I believe that it’s all in a name?? Heidi! Heidi! Heidi!

For more pics from the Emmy’s…take a peek…I definitely have some other fav’s too!

Collegiate Loyalty Add On…

As I further explored the Victoria’s Secret Pink Collegiate section (and with the help of Rachel Roberts via facebook), I found that you could vote for your college…spread the word with your alum…and, hopefully, see your school products in the Pink Collegiate section. The merchandise is adorable and who isn’t proud of the school they went to?

Check it out! Vote for your school!! And, for you North Dakota Bison alums out there – you better get on here and VOTE! I want to wear one of their cute tees or hoodies with OUR logo on it!

Check out the Pink Collegiate section, they have a ton of schools already represented…great gifts for the college freshman, alums, and they are just plain cute and fun!!

School Style

It is back to school time, again! Ah, the crisp Fall air is around the corner (hopefully)! Football season is about to start and it’s time to show your school spirit!

I LOVE seeing people beaming with pride as they strut their stuff in their school colors, logos, and mascots! I LOVE that people show their loyalty to their school no matter how long it’s been since they have been a student.

Victoria’s Secret has jumped on the school loyalty band wagon and are providing some adorable options to support your school!

Check it out!

Unfortunately, Victoria’s Secret doesn’t have apparel for my alma mater, North Dakota State University (Go Bison), but, I know people that attend or have attended these three schools, now, that I live in Oklahoma!

So, here is the question, can I just wear these items, because they are so darn cute, or is that the non-cool thing to do??? Hmmm……

Don’t delay…show your school spirit today!

A Day in the Life…

I had an awesome day today! Besides that fact, that I purely enjoyed every event and meeting that I had today, I was able to sneak in some shopping too!

First, I started out my morning, bright and early, modeling the fabulous fall line from Ilene Fisher that will be arriving at Saks Fifth Avenue very soon! Let me just tell you – gorgeous and comfortable clothing all wrapped into one! Staple items in shades of grey and black with shots of bordeaux, mustard and vibrant blue. How can one complain about starting their day parading around in such a beautiful clothing line?

Then, I had time to run into to Banana Republic before I needed to be at my next appointment. Okay, I literally went in there to “RUN in and check to see if my hubby’s favorite cargo shorts were on sale”. Just RUN in and RUN out! That was the plan! Well, needless to say, I was quickly detoured into the women’s department where, I swear, everything is marked down. Other then a few select items that are starting to trickle in for Fall, it felt like EVERYTHING was on sale! So, needless to say, I scooped up some fun items and needed to head to my next appointment. And, oh, yes, some of those items I scooped up  happened to be one pair of cargo shorts for my hubby that, yes, were on sale too! So, it was a win-win for everyone involved – okay, my “win” may have been a little bigger, but, I did buy something for him and that counts right?!? I’ telling you – you do not want to miss out on all of their savings! Go, now, go quickly! But, finish reading my blog first…HA!

And, because I had to push the limit, I decided to run into White House Black Market too. Okay, have you seen the shade of pink that is coming in as their complimentary color for early Fall. STUNNING! It is such a beautiful shade of pink that you HAVE to go in and see it! You are guaranteed to fall in love with it!

Off to my lunch meeting, where I had a chance to meet up with some fabulous women that based on the event being planned – I, again, got to talk about my favorite subject – FASHION!! Of course, we digressed to kids, business, etc. – but, oh, how I love talking about fashion and coming up with some great topics to share with others! I will keep you posted to the rest of that event that will be coming up in the Fall.

As soon as I rushed out of my lunch meeting and before heading to my next meeting, I ran into Sideways Boutique which is off Peoria in Brookside. Very cute boutique! There was a woven belt in there that had been calling my name for a few days! I couldn’t resist…I HAD to go back for it! So, I made a quick pit stop to get my new belt and then off to the next meeting!

I, then, got to meet with my favorite people at the American Heart Association, Stephanie and Brandy, as well as meet the new Go Red Director, Toni, who is already becoming one of my favorite people too! (Along with Lauri, my director, she was there too!) I always enjoy being there and discussing what we can do to continue to spread the message and create more awareness.

Whew, are you tired yet? I am, but, that still didn’t stop me! By the time, I was done with all of those meetings my “work day” was coming to an end. But, not so fast, I get a call from my bestie and she happens to be at the mall. Would I want to join her? I think we all know the answer there…”YES! I’m on my way!”

At the mall, we perused the fun aisles of Sephora and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with the employees. My friend LOVES  makeup, so, she was like a kid in the candy store…and what’s not to love when you see all of the colors, and shiny containers, and pretty pictures everywhere. From there, we decided to tackle Payless Shoe Source…did you know they sell quite a bit of jewelry now? I found some very cute earrings for CHEAP! You will have to check it out! And, for those of you that don’t know….there is a new store in the mall called Dolce Vita, well, here is the inside secret, it used to be Luca. So, if you loved Luca, you will love Dolce Vita, and wouldn’t you know, we managed to walk out of that store with a few items too.

So, the moral of this story is….hmmm….is there one? Yes, there is! If you are a true shopping addict, then there is ALWAYS time to shop, no matter how busy and full your day is, there is always time to shop! :) And, it would probably be best if we kept all of this between you and me, let’s not mention it to my hubby! In his mind, I went shopping, but, I went shopping for HIM!! Well, that’s true…partly true…that’s at least WHY I started my shopping escapade today!

Okay…I’m tired….time to go….will see what kind of shopping mischief that I can get in to tomorrow!

Back to School Shopping

It’s that time again – summer is coming to an end and school is right around the corner. For us, moms, we are probably ecstatic and thankful…for the kids, not so much! Although, I have to admit, I remember thoroughly enjoying the back-to-school shopping trips to prepare for school – new school clothes, school supplies, etc. It was the actual going BACK to school that was not so fun!

As we prepare for our back to school shopping, remember these few things:

1. Make a list. Don’t get carried away with all of the “cute stuff” (believe me, it’s easy to do), be realistic on what you are looking for, needing, etc.

2. Set a budget. The economy is turning around, but, it’s been a tough time for all of us. Make sure you are spending what you CAN and NOT what you CAN’T!

3. Go Consignment. Kids grow so fast. It’s rare that they actually “wear something out”. Check out consigment stores or a local favorite, here, Just Between Friends. Get your friends together and do your own consignment swap shopping night. Otherwise, the good ol’ tried and true, garage sale, is another place to find some great deals!

4. Shop Sales. Money saving queen is an awesome resource, as well as perusing the Sunday advertisements on your own. Lots of retailers are creating their own lists to send coupons, special savings, etc, right to your email inbox. My goal is to have a section of Stylish Stepmom keeping you up-to-date on all of the “stylish savings” going on in your area.

5. Plan Ahead. Don’t wait until the last minute when you are battling the aisles with everyone else that waited until the last minute. Do your shopping now. Maybe, it’s better for you to stretch out your budget and do a little bit at a time. Plan it out by week of what you are going to buy and how much you are going to buy.

6. Have Fun. It’s your kids and you love them! It’s an exciting time for them. Let them make their own choices (within reason, of course). It’s amazing the cooperation you may get and how smooth the process may be, if you give them the “illusion” that they are in charge and picking out their own items.

So, before you cram in all of your last minute summer activities, take a minute to think about your back-to-school shopping. We know the kids aren’t ready, but, are you?!?

Don’t delay…go back-to-school shopping today!
