The Red Dress (crown not included) – What I Wear

A dress fit for a queen, right?

HA! It’s fit for everyone!

This dress was one of those ‘on a whim’ purchases. I was zipping through the mall and ‘Cache’ was having a $79.00 dress sale. The word ‘sale’ definitely caught my eye and I thought, ‘Hey, you can never have enough dresses, right?’. Isn’t that what every woman thinks?

It’s a classic piece in a beautiful shade of red with just a touch of ‘edge’ with the cutout. Perfect! Wrap it up, I’m sold. Got it home and thought…hmmm…wonder where I will wear this dress?

Fast forward about 3 weeks, running around like a crazy person with meetings, TV segment, school pick up/drop offs, traveling most of the week, and oh, yeah, that’s right, it’s the Mrs. Oklahoma International 2012 pageant the next day!

What to wear? What to wear?

Ah, the red dress! But, it needs a little more ‘bling’, I am going to a pageant after all! So, without hesitation, I added some amber jeweled earrings (which, sorry, you can’t see with my hair), a beautiful amber jeweled brooch, gold/amber bangles and a pair of gold slingbacks.

Done! Off to the pageant….oh, and don’t forget the crown to complete the look!

Texture has my Attention…

Texture has caught my eye…and I don’t know why! (Yes, I am a poet)

Texture has always intrigued me – because it can make such a statement in a subtle way.

People are typically attracted to pattern, sparkle, and shine. For example, last night I was out with a few girlfriends and the waitresses were all wearing different tees with all sorts of ‘bling’ on them. I couldn’t help but look at them…they caught my eye! With the lights reflecting off the ‘bling’, you were even blinded to a certain degree.

But with texture I feel like it’s a mixed bag of tricks. It catches your eye because of the detail and design Texture also provides an effortless elegance to the garment too.

Two cautions with texture are:

  • Make sure it fits your body type and silhouette. It can create ‘heaviness’ depending on the fabric, etc.
  • Don’t over accessorize texture – let it speak for itself.

Other Items I Couldn’t Resist…

As I was shopping for items to use in my Channel 6/News on 6 segment, I was finding so many wonderful things, that I just couldn’t decide what to use! Who knows, I may change my mind by the the time we do the segment tomorrow! But, either way, I had to share these pieces with you.

First, tribal print is ultra popular this season. The picture above is actually a one-shoulder top, which you will find just as frequently as the tribal print this season. I know, the picture does not do the top justice at all, but, wanted to highlight it! It is super adorable when you try it on! The black bead necklace is super cute with it too!

The pastels are coming on strong this spring in a variety of styles and silhouettes. This purple shirt with tone-on-tone floral embroidery is pure innocence! Lucite jewelry is hotter than ever this season and with it’s clear tone can be worn with a variety of items.

Espadrilles are a must-have when it comes to the spring and summer months. It’s a perfect shoe to make something a little more dressy, but, still be comfortable too. This hot pink color is to die for!! Beautiful color to compliment navy, khaki, and browns.

Seriously – there are so many amazing items out there for spring right now and so many great boutiques in the Tulsa area – I was having a horrible time trying to narrow down my selection. Too much fun stuff!
